Shelter Outreach Plus operates two 30- to 60-day emergency shelters in Monterey County, one in Salinas and another in Seaside. The shelters offer women and children safety and assistance as they begin the rehabilitative process necessary to break the cycle of domestic violence and/or homelessness.
A 24-bed facility in Salinas and a 16-bed home in Seaside provide 24-hour, year-round hope. A woman entering one of our shelters will find a clean room for herself and her children with ongoing support such as food, clothing, and sundries. Counseling and case management services will help her to obtain a job and long-term housing. These steps will give her the opportunity to get off the street and to begin the process of rehabilitation necessary to become self-sufficient.
